RIT Student Chapter Meeting

January 2022 Meeting – Safety Leadership
Our January 18th meeting was a huge success. Over thirty safety professionals from the Rochester community joined us to hear Bruce Bolger speak on Transformational Safety Leadership. He spoke about Sponsor-Target-Agent and how that philosophy can help you create a safer and more compliant workplace for your company. Bruce spent time outlining Emotional Intelligence and how it applies to everything we do. My favorite line was, “Let me tell you a story.” That line can be used to gain attention and explain your viewpoint in a way that is understood.
Thanks to all that attended,
Jim Christiano
Annual OSHA Update Meeting
This year our Annual OSHA Update was presented by Nick Donofrio, Compliance Assistance Specialist – NY Regional Office of the US Department of Labor / OSHA. As usual, this meeting was very well attended by our membership. Nick presented on a range of topics including the recent FY Top 10 OSHA Citations, Updates on the COVID-19 Vaccine ETS, OSHA Heat Illness and Stop Construction Falls initiatives. Thanks to Nick Donofrio for volunteering his time to present to our Chapter.
January 2021 Meeting – Indoor Air Quality
Presented by: Derrick Day and Roger Zaccour of the Stark Tech Groups
This presentation covers different strategies and technologies to achieve better indoor air quality. We will be going through Humidification, Filtration, UV-C, and control/monitoring. Each building is different, and these strategies will need to be applied with an understanding of the goal and use of the building. The best solution is always a combination of multiple strategies. Proper execution and education will lead to healthier buildings.
